Fifth Judicial District Adult Drug Court
Created in 2002 by District Judge Robert Lane, the Fifth Judicial District Adult Drug Court in Pahrump provides a structured path toward accountability, treatment, and rehabilitation. Since 2011, District Judge Kim Wanker has overseen the program and continued its mission of helping participants rebuild their lives.
A Valued Community Partner
The Drug Court has been recognized for its community contributions, including collaborating with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, supporting the Nye County Holiday Task Force during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Fourth of July events, and providing service at the Nye County Animal Shelter, Never Forgotten Animal Society, the Pahrump Senior Center, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). The Drug Court also assists with the Pahrump Chili Cook-Off. In 2019 and again in 2020, the Drug Court won 3rd place in the People’s Choice category for it’s chili.
A Program Focused on Recovery
Drug Court offers an alternative to traditional incarceration for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. Participants are required to remain substance-free, follow court requirements, and complete at least 20 hours per week of employment of community service with a qualifying non-profit organization. The program typically lasts 1-3 years. Drug court graduates leave the program not only clean and sober, but with a driver’s license, high school diploma or GED, and a job.
